It’s Friday. The big boys were at school this afternoon. 2 sticks of butter have been patiently waiting on the counter for me. Since Sunday . . . when I promised our youngest we’d make cookies together. And then life, and school and work happen, and all too often those little promises get pushed aside. With a free afternoon, we finally made good on the promise! AND he cracked the eggs by himself with no shells in the bowl! I’m pretty sure this is as big of a Mom victory as teaching him to ride without training wheels . . . right?
We finished up just in time for the big boys to come bounding up the hill off the bus. And then the moment {and the dough} was no longer ours alone.
Kathy Kurth - I’d always try to hide the dough in the back of the refrigerator to bake later. “Nobody” always found them and by the time I baked them the bowl was only half full of cookie dough. I used to say I weighed the bowl before I put it in there so no matter how good you think you are at covering up your cookie dough cravings, I’ll know if even 1 oz is missing. Still didn’t stop the dough from disappearing. I never met “Nobody” but he must have been a good friend of you kids because all of you seemed to know him well.
